About Music x Technology

The Music Technology Program at Edward R. Murrow High School is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge for future studies and careers in various music and technology fields. Students engage in hands-on, project-based learning, blending music with advanced technical skills, supported by expert teachers, artists, technicians, and engineers. The program covers sound engineering, computer music, audio-visual production, post-production, mastering, film scoring, song composition, audio for games, and multimedia production. Through a year-end project, students apply their learning by engaging in songwriting, recording sessions, music video production, and other multimedia applications using software like Garageband, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, and Ableton. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in an internship program, gaining real-world experience at recording studios, media companies, music-scoring houses, record labels, and other industry enterprises. The program also emphasizes imagination, creativity, and technical proficiency, preparing students to set up and run technical aspects of live performances and collaborate with peers in large-scale productions.
